Co-Extrusion
HF offers a wide range of co-extrusion systems for the production of passenger and trucktreads, sidewalls (also white sidewall) and other tire components.
The co-extrusion head is the core component of any extrusion line with a great influence
on the the production output and the quality of the final profile. As one of our key
competences in extrusion, we offer turn-key extrusion lines with local project management
and supplies.
KGS 200 HF offers co-extrusion
heads as a duplex, triplex or
quadruplex system, and with
customized extruder configurations.
Common head widths are
500, 650, 800, 1000 and 1200mm.
We can proudly say that our
systems meet the uppermost
production requirements,
withstand the highest internal
pressures, are safe, durable,
space-saving, effective and
free of any wear. Of course,
we have many years experience and a long list of satisfied customers all over the world.
Our extrusion heads offer the following advantages:
- Design characteristics
The co-extrusion heads are characterized by a very compact design. The head is
designed for a maximum pressure of 350 bar. For optimum durability,
HF manufactures the head parts from forged high-grade steel.
No cast steel parts are used, thus eliminating the danger of the normal
problems with the casting process. The construction is robust and at the
same time simple, allowing your operating and maintenance staff easy access
to the extrusion head from all sides.
The head design does not have any sliding (frictional) surfaces subject
to wear during head closing and opening. Adjustments with spacers,
wear plates or shims are not required.
- Hammer locking system
In 1987 HF invented the "hammer head" locking system.
Duplex, triplex and quadruplex co-extrusion heads have at
least two separate hydraulic locking systems for the upper and lower
head parts.
In case of a stock change, it is not necessary to open the complete
head when only one compound requires a change or when changing from
tread to sidewall production.
The "Hammer Heads" are positioned close to the flow channels and
die opening resulting in minimum deflection of head sections.
- Flow channels and tooling
The flow channel lengths are designed to handle natural rubber
as well as synthetic compounds. By keeping the flow path as short
as possible and by having the extrusion screw extending into the head,
the head pressure and extrusion temperature is kept at an optimal level.
Together with our state of the art customized screw design,
the flow channel design has a major impact in the machine output.
Our tooling can be exchanged without opening the head, allowing
for fast changeover times. A range of tooling assisting devices
are available as well.
which combines the above-mentioned advantages.
HF supplies simplex, duplex, triplex, and quadruplex extrusion heads.
